Global Developmental Delay

Global developmental delay (GDD) is a term employed when a child requires more time to achieve certain developmental milestones compared to their peers of the same age. These milestones encompass aspects such as learning to walk or talk, refining movement skills, acquiring new knowledge, and engaging with others socially and emotionally. GDD is a type of intellectual disability characterized by a lack of specific symptoms, as it pertains to general delays that cannot be precisely pinpointed during assessments. Commonly noted deficits leading to a GDD diagnosis involve delays in motor skills (including crawling and walking), challenges with fine motor skills, and language difficulties.

Treatment

If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with GDD, you might be experiencing feelings of overwhelm and uncertainty about the next steps. During such times, it's crucial to collaborate with professionals who comprehend the unique challenges associated with GDD and related disorders. This is where PTS comes into play, offering high-quality, personalized treatment plans crafted to enhance your or your loved one's quality of life.

Our GDD treatment services are accessible in employing a specialized approach known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. This therapeutic method utilizes the principles of learning theory in a systematic manner to modify behaviors. In essence, our focus is on augmenting adaptive skills and replacement behaviors while actively working to reduce maladaptive behaviors.

Our team adopts a systematic approach to treatment planning, considering how behavior functions, how it responds to the environment, and how learning occurs. The outcome is a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to assist you or your loved one in improving language abilities, developing communication skills, enhancing attention, nurturing social skills, and mitigating problem behaviors.
